Meet Madeline Warthan —

Sometimes writing as Scarlett Ash, Madeline Warthan considers herself an author of beautiful nightmares, mostly sticking to paranormal romance and romantasy.

She lives in Texas with her husband and puppy, though her soul belongs in a Renaissance painting or Dracula’s castle depending on the time of year.

She believes the most beautiful stories are found in the shadows—

—or, in her case, her laptop, where she weaves her experiences with OCD and chronic pain into tales of messy immortals and dark yearning. She, like many authors, started writing with fanfiction and was happily surprised to find over a million readers enjoyed her work. The Demon’s Kiss is her first novel.

If she isn’t lost in her own world or working on her English Literature Master’s, she’s likely enjoying a book in her beloved book room with an iced strawberry matcha or a warm cup of chai nearby. Some of her favorite authors include Rebecca Ross, Rachel Gillig, Ruby Dixon, and her many, many author friends.
